Southwest Paintings

Each winter when the clouds and rain descend on the Pacific west coast, I head south to explore and paint.

The southwest states offer an endless kaleidoscope of sun-baked colours, canyons, mesas, giant saguaros, and flowering cacti.

My home there is a historic village near the Mexican border, surrounded by Spanish missions and sun-dried adobes.   I  enjoy exploring trails that are hundreds of years old and painting in new locations whenever I can.

I especially love the challenge of painting colours and scenery so different from home and yet there are still so many similarities: the play of light and shadows, the drifting clouds... we all live under the same sky.
